ASSOCIATION. The annual general meeting of the above Association was “held on Monday last, at the Kakararaea Town Hall, about fifteen members being present. IT. Williamson, Esq., in the chair.
The yearly balance sheet laid before the meeting showed a balance to credit of the Association of £SO 8s 3d. flie Auditor’s report addressed to the Chairman was read as follows:—“ We beg to inform you that we have this day audited the accounts of the above Association and have found them correct. We strongly recommend that a proper set of books be opened so that the different accounts of subscription, entries, prizes, &c., may be seen at a glance. We are not in a position as ascertain the liability of the Association in respect of prize money still remaining unpaid, owing to Class Stewards having omitted to send in the names of prize takers. We would suggest that in future a system be adopted of issuing certificates to the prize winners directly the prizes are adjudged, such certificate to be cashed by iho treasurer within some reasonable time.— Geo. A. Makchant, J. S. Gingeu, Auditors.” The Balance Sheet as read was adopted.
■ The following new members were duly proposed, seconded, and admitted —W. Napier, W. Govern, and David Hunter. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —Mr Owen Hawes, President; Mr Hi Williamson, Vice-President ; Mr J. Gibson, Treasurer ; and Mr F. Cowern, Secretary. The following were nominated and duly elected as committee: —Messrs W. Napier, F. M. Chapman, David Hunter, E. M. Honey field, Alex. Aiken, W. Robertson, G. Symcs, R. B. Pearce. E. R. Morgan, W. VViJoou, Donald Coutts, R. E. Mcßae, D. IT, Williamson, IT. S. 'Peacock, James Livingstone, IT. G. Morocroft, A. Hunter, George McLean, W. Gower, and T. Mason.
The Secretary was instructed to write to absent members of the committee informing them of their appointment.
A bonus of £lO was voted to the Sccretaiy in recognition of services rendered during the past year. The question of incorporation of the Association under “ The Agricultural and Pastoral Association Act, 1877,” was mooted, and a petition which had been prepared for presentation to the Governor asking his assent, was signed by the members present. A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought the business to a close.
