He is 28 years old and was in sole charge of the agency. He offered no defence and called no one to' speak to his character. The Bank Inspector stated that the amountof his defalcations were about three thousand pounds., v» , . FEILDING. March 29. Mr Barren, C.E., who has been exploring for a practicable road from the West Coast to Auckland, returned yesterday. He has discovered a good route from Feilding to' Bird’s station on the plains. The question is therefore now considered settled, of direct route to Auckland .via Feilding.
