MAJOR ATKINSON AND HIS CONSTITUENTS.
(To the Editor of the PaTea Mail.)
Sin, —-By.a notice in your paper of today it would appear that our representative lias at last woke up to the consciousness of his having a constituency in the Patea County,
When a horse becomes sluggish it is necessary at time to apply the spur to accelerate its movements, and with a view 1 to awaken our niombt r to a sense of his duties, “ Elector” considered it necessary to apply the spur ■ and the application has had a mus. wonderful effect. It lias caused a notice to appear in your paper to the effect that the Major is actually going to address his Patea constituents. I belietc this will be the lirst time cuitr
representative has (since hiselection) called his constituents together to ascertain their views or wishes.
Aa event so rare aught certainly to draw a large audience, but the want, of courtesy shown by our member hitherto will i>rh bably induce many to treat hi.a with the same indifference, or want of courtesy, hitherto shown by him towards his Paten constituents.—l am, &c., ELECTOH. March 6th, 1878.
