A HINT FOR MAJOR ATKINSON.

(To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sir, — I notice by the Taranaki newspapers that the members for Grey and Bell and New Plymouth waited on the Premier and Hon Mr Sheehan to bring under their notice the construction of the Mountain Road and other matters. But I saw no mention made of the member for Cape Egmont waiting on these gentlemen to bring to their notice the requirements of the district he represents. Whilst in office as a Minister, and afterwards Premier, Major Atkinson did very little for the district he represented. His friends excised him by saying that while in the position of Premier be could not do much for his district without being accused of favouritism. There is no such excuse now; yet it would appear that Major Atkinson, as a private member, neglects the interests of bis district quite as much now as he did when in office. Not only does Major Atkinson neglect our interests, but be , appears to add insult to injury, by the discourteous way he treats his constituents. It will be remembered that during the recess between last session and previous session, Major

Atkinson did not address ins constituents, his excuse being that Government had not had a cabinet meeting. There is no shell excuse how to prevent him addressing his constituents. We might have naturally expected that, to make up for past neglect and discourtesy, the Major would have taken an early opportunity of addressing his constituents after the close of last session. ... Major Atkinson should bear in mind that ho owes hift election to bis constituency at this end of Cape Egraorit district. And when he does condescend to come here anti address his constituents, Major Atkinson will find that his neglect; and discourtesy, has lost him the respect and confidence of those who were once liis political supporters. —I am. &c., AN ELECTOR.
