NORMARBY SCHOOL DISTRICT.
A meeting of the committee of the above School District, was held at Normanby, on Wednesday, the 9th January. Present— Messrs Robson, Finlayson, Hunger, Budd, and Gibson.
The business of the committee being to elect a chairman for the ensuing term, Mr Gibson was voted to the chair pro tem. It was then proposed by Mr Hunger, seconded by Mr Robson, and carried, “ That Mr Gibson be Chairman of Committee for ensuing term.” Proposed by Mr Robson, seconded by Mr Hunger, and carried, “That the chairman bo requested to write to Messrs Peat and Duthie of Wanganui, and Mr Sherwood of Carlyle, asking their consent to bo nominated by the committee, as candidates for the Board.”
Proposed by Mr Finlayson, seconded by Mr Hunger, and carried, “ That the chairman be requested to write to the secretary of the Patea Education Board, asking him to forward copy of “ The Education Act, 1877,” for guidance of committee.” Proposed by Mr Finlayson, seconded by Mr Robson, and carried, “ That the chairman bo authorised to procure a minute book, and any other stationery required for carrying on business of committee.” The question of appointing clerk and treasurer, was also discussed, but it was thought advisable to postpone the matter, until the committee were supplied with a copy of the Act, the chairman undertaking to do the necessary business, in the meantime. The meeting then adjourned.
KAKARAMEA SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The above committee held its first meeting on Wednesday, the 9th instant. Present; Messrs Williamson, Hawken, Paterson, Payne, Chapman, and Maichant. Mr Williamson was voted to the chair. Proposed by Mr Merchant, seconded by Mr Hawken, and carried, “ That Mr Williamson be chairman of committee.”
Proposed by-Mr Hawken,. seconded by Mr Paterson, and carried, “That Mr Marchant be clerk and treasurer to the committee.”
Proposed by. Mr Chapman, seconded by Mr Payne, and carried, “ That the gentlemen now proposed to act as members of the Educational Board be communicated with, with a view to obtaining their consent to nomination.”
The meeting then adjourned till the 10th instant, at 7 p.nn
