Parish, of Canterbury, Won Ist prize in Christchurch as three-year old in 1870 ; Ist prize in Titnaru, 1871 ; 2nd prize Hutt Show, Wellington. Is out of Titstone, imported from Tasmania (who fetched 180 guineas at Tattersall’s), by imported horse Major, from Scotland. Major took Ist prize in Tasmania three years running; was bred by Mr Kerr, of Ayrshire, out of prize mare Clydesdale, got by Old Prince Royal, who gained seven prizes in 1859, and took Ist prize as best horse at the great show at Harnett. Britannia will travel to Carlyle (Albion Hotel stables) on Mondays; Kakaramea (Wharncliffe Hotel stables) on Tuesdays; returning to Wairoa (Edwards’ stables) on Wednesdays ; will visit Waitotara on Thursdays; returning to Wairoa on Fridays, Terms—Single marcs, £3; two or more, as per agreement. Mai ton’s pedigree is indisputable, and he is the sire of several first-class horses on the flat and over hurdles. St. Albans won the Maiden Steeplechase at Aram oho last year; won the Hurdle Race at the Hutt this year, weight for age, beating Tommy Dodd and a large field ; won the Ladies’ Purse at Foxton, welter weight for age, beating Pai-awenui, &c. His performances over fences in Wanganui have stamped him the best cross-country horse in the Island.
