Scige operations at Plevna arc at a standstill, for want of shovels. A severe fight, lasting nine hours, has taken place between the forces under Ismal Pasha and General Tergukasoff. Result indecisive. Chefket Pasha is entrenched, before Orchamo. The President informed Hungarian Parliament that triple alliance involved Hungary in an obligation regarding the Eastern question. September 20. Two hundred thousand ’pounds has been subscribed to India fund, £2,G00 of which has boon remitted. BOMBAY. (September 25. Twenty-one thousand, not twenlyseven thousand, as stated, was the Russian-Roumanian loss at Plevna. Rains at Bulgaria retard operations. An unofficial despatch reports that the Russian centre, on the 12th, attacked Plevna, and were defeated with very heavy loss.
The Russians have been compelled to fall back south ot Jogkyi, vith heavy losses.
