THE CHAIRMAN, PATEA COUNTY COUNCIL.
(TO THK EDITOR OF THE PATEA MAIL.) Sir, —The members of tbe Wanganui County Council having elected a chairman at a late meeting in place of D. Peat, Esq., resigned, in a similar manner to tiic way the present chairman of onr Council was elected, and the solicitor to the Wanganui Council having given his opinion that the election is illegal, a meeting is called for the sth October next, for the purpose of putting matters right. Can you inform me if the proceedings of the Patea County Council are legal, since Mr Sherwood was informally appointed chairman ?—I am, &c. RATEPAYER. Manutabi, September 29th, 1877.
