Docs One who hates Tiickery think letting vultures, hangers-on, and other objectionable persons alone, to follow their own devices and prey on the ratepayers a right and proper course to pursue, simply because lie has not a majority at his back. I sav No! shake up all cloudy transactions, and so prevent the parasites alluded to above from getting quite so fat as they otherwise may do. As to Councillor Middlcmas and Livingstone altering their minds when they found they had made a mistake, is not the point at issue. It was their astuteness in valuing services awhile ago at nearly double what they now value the same services.

I likewise quoted Concillors Dale and Honyfeld, showing their astuteness. One who hates Trickery is at sea in thinking that Observer will allow that the County Council management is an improvement on Hoad Boards, for I think quite the contrary; and as to Observer liking one shilling and nincponce in the £, all I can say is, I would rather pay two and ninepcnce, if we got value received, than wade axle-deep, taking four horses, and fifty times the wear and tear, to do the work of one horse.—l am, &c.
