CABLE MESSAGES.
[Reuter’s Telegrams to Press Agency.] ANOTHER BATTLE. 4,000 RUSSIANS AND 1,200 TURKS KILLED. BOMBAY. August 27. A. Russian official despatch reports continuous fighting at Shipka until 12 o’clock on tho morning of the 25th. A despatch from Sulieman Pasha on the 23rd, states that Russian sorties were repulsed. In a general assault the followingday, the Russians were completely surrounded. The Turks commanded the line of retreat to Gabrova. A Stamboul despatch of the 26th, states that Sulieman Pasha captured the pass and attacked Gabrova. LONDON. August 26. General Daroschniskie was killed at Shipka pass. The Turks gained a brilliant victory on tho heights of Keyzeith after severe fighting. The Russian loss is 4,000, including General Tchonschvassoff. The Turkish loss is 1,200. All the Powers concurred in Germany’s repx-esentations of the Porte’s treatment of Russian prisoners and wounded. Wellesley’s report denies the reported Russian cruelties. SYDNEY. August 28. The Premier and Minister of Lands have been re-elected.
