PATEA' AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Committee of the above Society took place on Monday afternoon, at the office of the Secretary (Mr W. Dale), Carlyle, nearly all the members being present. It was decided to notify that prizes won at the late show would be paid on application to the Treasurer on and after Wednesday.
Messrs Goutts, Lupton, Hawos, Henderson, G. W. Gane, Livingstone, and J. Dickie, jnn., were appointed a committee to make arrangements for the carrying’ ont of the Animal Ploughing Match.' The Association headed the subscription list with a donation of £5. Mr E. R. Morgan gave notice of motion that ho would move, at the Annual meeting —That the Agricultural Society’s shows, in future, be held in the spring of the year instead of in the autumn. At the conclusion of the above the Matc'n committee held a meeting, when it was decided that the Ploughing Match should take place at Waverley, on ’the 2uth instant. A sub-committee was appointed to examine and report on ground where it was proposed the match should he held. The rules to bo observed in ploughing will be the same as those formerly in force, with the exception that false cuts will be strictly prohibited.
PATE A EAST ROAD BOARD. A meeting or the above Board was liehl in the Secretary’s office, Carlyle, on Monday, 2nd July. Present—Rev. A. Dasent fin the chair), Messrs Gower, Horner, Riddell, Nicholson, ami Sonthby. Minutes of-previous meeting were road and continued, and inward and outward corr cl 5 pond cn c c rca< I.
Tenders from Mr D. M. Harris and Mr John Whelan having been opened, it was proposed by Mr Gower, seconded by Mr Riddell, and carried—That the tender of Mr D. M. Harris be accepted for the office of secretary and collector to the Board, on approved security for £SO being furnished. Secretary to tind office accommodation. On the motion of Mr Gower, seconded by Mr Riddell, it was resolved that tenders for the formation of road from the Kakarka stream to the top of the Puti spin, be called for—Messrs Eraser and Tiegear to be instructed to prepare plans. On the motion of Mr Southin', seconded by Mr Homer, Messrs Eraser and Tregcar were appointed engineers to the Board. On tiie motion of Mr Southby, seconded by Mr Nicholson, the secretary was instructed to procure rate roll bootr, and apply to County Council for use of room to hold Board meetings in.
Proposed by Mr Southby-, seconded by Mr Nicholson, and carried—That the secretary write to Captain Wray’ for information with regard to the road along river bank, agreed to be granted by r Government if applied for within a certain time. Proposed by Mr Nicholson, seconded by r Mr Gower, and carried—That power be given to Messrs Hooper and Gower to remove water, either by culvert or otherwise, on the Little Taranaki Road.
Accounts were passed, and the meeting adjourned.
