SHEEP.

(to THE EDITOR OP THE TATE a MAIL.) an owner of sheep in the ex-province of Taranaki, where Mr Hately was formerly Sheep Inspector, I was very pleased (although myself absent) to learn that a public meeting had been held at Kakaramea, last March, to get the Government to send a qualified person to inspect the sheep in our district (although we were paying an Inspector supposed to bo qualified) and to pronounce scabby sheep scabby. Since reading the report of the meeting I have been on the lookout for the reply telegram, which I expected would be published in your columns. I hare heard that the Inspector stated that some sheep

. were scabby, but I have not hoard so officially. •• Boing .a public affair,'.-we should also have seen somethin,','; about what took place at Mauutahi, between our representative ('Major Atkinson) and a Deputation of sheep owners, Mr Hawkiu being spokesman. I have anxiously perused the coin tuns of your paper, hoping to see something about it. 1 bear that an Inspector was sent but that be has gone again. I see there have been other inquiries through your columns by “Inquirer ” and “Floekowncr,” who, I imagine, are like me, hoping for information, and hoping in vain.—l am, &c. ANXIOUS.
