PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held at Kakaramea, on Wednesday last. Present—Messrs E. R. Morgan, W. Balmforth, E. J. Morgan, A. Hunter, P. Wilson, and E. M. Honeyfield. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr E. R. Morgan was voted to the chair. The minntes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Letters were read from Messrs Struthers and others, asking the Board to make the Ball Hoard, beyond Woodville, fit for traffic.—From Messrs Petch and Struthers re falling bush on road leading to Mr Fetch’s sections. The Committee appointed at the last meeting to inspect that portion of Garsed Road proposed to be closed, reported in favour of closing the road, and accepting Mr A. Hunter’s offer of a road through his laud.
Proposed by Mr Honeyfield, seconded I by Mr E. J. Morgan—“ That the report of the Committee on Garsed Hoad, bo adopted.” Carried.
Porposed by Mr Balmforth, by JMr Hunter—" That a portion of Crompton Road, from Mr J. Southby’sland to Manutahi Road, be closed in accordance with the mode prescribed by “The Public Works Act, 1876.” Carried. Proposed by Mr Balmforth, seconded by Mr Hunter, and carried—“ That application be made to the General Government, asking them to hand over the Immigrant’s cottages at Kakaramea and Manutahi, for the use of the Board.” Proposed by Mr E. J. Morgan, seconded by Mr Balmforth—“ That the time be extended for four months for the completion of contract on Tongaboc Road, by Mr P. Chewcrs.” Carried.
Proposed by Mr E. R. Morgan, seconded by Mr Honeyfield— 1 “ That any member of the Board seeing stray cattle doing damage on the road, employ labour to impound such cattle, the Board to be responsible for payment.” Carried. Proposed by Mr E. R, Morgan, seconded by Mr Honeyfield—“That the Secretary be empowered to pay amount of contracts on receipt of certificate from Commissioners appointed to inspect the same.” Carried.
Resolved —“That the Secretary write to Mr Hamilton, calling his attention to the furze growing on the Manutahi Road, opposite his property.” Proposed by Mr Honeyfield, seconded by Mr E. J. Morgan, and carried —“That the former resolution re placo of meeting, be rescinded, and that the meetings be held at the office of the Secretary for the future.” Resolved—“ That the Secretary communicate with the Patea Education Board, requesting that an answer be sent to letter re deviation of road through Mr Fairweather’s farm.”
Proposed by Mr Hunter, seconded by Mr Honeyfield, and carried —“That Messrs. E. R. Morgan, Wilson, Balmforth, and the mover, be appointed a Committee to inspect Ball Road, and road leading to Mr Belch’s land, and report at the next meeting ; also to take over Messrs Marchant and Co.’s contract, on Ball Road.” Proposed by Mr Morgan, seconded by Mr Wilson—“ That the works proposed to be done on Taumaha Road, stand over for the present.” Carried. The meeting then adjourned.
