HAWERA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, the 9th instant.- Present — 1 Messrs John Winks, James Cowper, W. Henderson, Moore Hunter, M. J. Goodson, Q. Muir, and the Secretary (Mr J. S. Greig.) Mr Winks was unanimously elected chairman for the ensuing year. Minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed. On the motion of Mr Goodson, seconded by Mr Hunter, and carried unanimously Mr Greig was re-elected - Board, together with the office of collecw, at a salary of £35 per annum. Resolved—That the secretary obtain the necessary books required by “ The Rating Act, 1876.” Resolved—That the contract at Wakamara be passed for payment. Proposed by Mr Hunter, seconded by Mr Goodson, and carried —“That Mr Henderson be granted £7 10s to expend on roads at Wakamara.” Resolved—That Messrs Winks. Hunter, Muir, and Cowper be appointed as a committee to devise and draft out a plan of road into Mr Muir’s land, and lay the same before the next meeting of the Board. Proposed by Mr Goodson, seconded by Mr Hunter, and carried—“ That Is in the £ be levied by way of rate, such to come into force from the Ist April, 1877, terminating on the 31st March, 1878 ; such rates to become due on the 31st August, 1877.” Resolved—That the secretary publish the foregoing, according to provisions of the Act, so soon as he procures the necessary books, &c. Resolved—-That two culverts bo laid in Ohangai road. The Board then adjourned.
