[Per Press Agency.] DUNEDIN. May 27. A coroner’s inquest has been held on the body of Margaret Mclntyre, the servant girl who was so cruelly used. The jury, after several days examination of witnesses, returned a verdict of manslaughter against Mrs Reid, her late mistress. WANGANUI. May 28. At the settling meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club, it was resolved, “ That in view of the reported resolution of the Canterbury Jockey Club, dated 25th May, this Club declines in future to recognise any complaint or disqualification made by the Canterbury Jockey Club, unless such complaint or disqualification has previously been referred to, and confirmed by, at least one Club of the proceedings of which the W.J.C. takes cognisance.” NEW PLYMOUTH. May 29. A public meeting has been called for Thursday lor the purpose of urging upon Government the necessity of pushing forwards and finishing at an early date the Waitara Wanganui railway; the Hon. W. Fox and the local membeas are invited to attend. A preliminary meeting to organise the above was held last night when Mr Standish, Colonel Trimble, and others attended, and a committee was formed to draw up resolutions.

The polling is appointed for Wednesday, the 6th June, at the Court-house, Carlyle.
