NEW CANDIDATE.
(TO the editor of the patea maid.)
Sir —The members of the Town Board are, I have no doubt, disgusted at the nomination on Monday, and I believe that every right-minded person in the community feels equally disgusted, and will treat the nominators with the scorn and contempt they so richly deserve. I heard it stated that Wilson was a better man than either McArthy or Southby (his sponsors). I believe he is, a much better man, but that is saying very little. Now, sir, 1 Would jnst like to say a few words to the members of the Town Board. Do not let this matter interfere with your duty to the ratepayers, but hold on to your offices through thick and thin. You have the support of the respectable portion of the community. This action has been taken to endeavour to compel you to resign. If you do so you will but be playing into the hands of a few ignorant low cunning upstarts, who are utterley devoid of the elements of decency.—l am, &c.
NEMESIS,
