THE LATE NOMINATIONS.
(To the Editor of the Patea Mail.)
Sir —There appears to be a very general feeling of disgust at the action of Messrs Southby, McArthy, and Co., in nominating Mr Wilson for the office of member of the Town Board. Now, I do not participate in this feeling I think that every credit is due to those gentlemen for the respectable and consideiate manner in which they have acted. They have displayed the greatest possible amount of consideration for the ratepayers, and respect for the members of the Board. They have done this in nominating Mr Wilson—whom they know is in every respect their superior, and one who will fittingly represent his nominators in public matters.
I hear that Mr Wilson is going in to have the price of beer reduced to fourpence per quart. I would suggest that he should also have the price of rum reduced to fourpence. The twopence change would come in handy. Mr Wilson shou d have the using of obscene language in the public streets legalized, and “poker” voted a game fit for one of aristocratic descent. By so doing be will properly serve Ids party.—l am, &c. BROAD ARROW & WHEELBARROW.
