[Per Press Agency.] WELLINGTON. May 22. The Loan and Mercantile Agency reports (under date London, 18tli) —Wool : Competition increasing, quotations on the average being id to Id better than at the opening sales. The principal advance is in superior greasy and superior combing ; washed, crossbred, and scoured, unchanged. Seedy and Burry wools are neglected. Up to date, 58,0U0 bales have been sold. The stewards of the Wellington Jockey Chib, have resolved to endorse the action of the Oamaru Jockey Club. Fisbook and Derritt are therefore disqualified from taking part in the Wellington races. A private telegram received from Melbourne to-day, states that two large linns there have purchased all they could of stocks of brandy in the Melbourne market, and brand}' here has in consequence risen 2s per gallon. GUAIIAMRTOWN. May 22. A private letter received here from Frisco, says they are having bad times of it there, owing to the failure of crops in the southern portion of the State, and the depreciation of stocks, by which every second man is ruined.
