LATEST WAR NEWS. LONDON. May 17. The head quarters of the Russian army have been transferred to Plojesti, The accounts of the repulse of the Russian troops at Batoum are substantially confirmed. Russian despatch os state that Turkish ironclads bombarded Lukhum Kaleh, in Asia, and a desperate battle was fought on land, many being killed and wounded. BRISBANE. May 18. There is great distress amongst the Chinese on the Northern Territory. Hundreds of them are wandering about starving and robbing. The are nearly all armed.
