COUNTY JOBS.
(To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sir, —ln your issue of the 28th instant, I see a letter headed “ County Jobs.” It just reminds the electors of our district the abundance of forethought and economy our chairman possesses, lie has actually suggested to the Government that “the old buildings now used for Hospital purposes be sold.” Now, how old are those buildings ? If it is a portion of the Government barracks, it is about three years. Then what would it fetch? Never mind what—but sell it. Let us have some nice building, something near the sort of the Government Buildings down in Wellington—the jail, I mean—hut reserve one room with iron windows, so that we may put (I will leave the public to judge) into it, for safe keeping. Let nothing be done by our Council that is niggardly. Talk about money—money ought not to be considered in a ease like this. Pray keep np the dignity of the Patea Comity. Money, hey—moncj - ; yes, lots of money here. It is only to levy a rate on all people that have property, and I am sure our chairman would not object to pay his share to help put up such an cdiiiec.—! am, &c„ NOT AFFECTED BY TAXATION. Patea, April 80, 1877.
