PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.

TIIR ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday last. Present —Messrs Gibson (in the chair), Nicholson, Southhy, and Riddell. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

A. letter to the Colonial Secretary was road, notifying him of the Bank where the Board keeps its account. Letter read from the Colonial Secretary, relative to the change of boundary line between the Batea East and Wairoa Highway Boards. Letter read from the Colonial Treasurer, requesting a return of the property within the Batea East Load Board District, for the year ending the Hist March, 1876. Letter read from Colonial Treasurer to Mr Southby, enclosing cheque for £23 4s 4d, subsidy on £92 17s 6d. Letter read from the Colonial Treasurer to the Chairman, enclosing cheque for £23 4s lid. Broposcd by Mr Southby, seconded by Mr Riddell, and carried, ‘‘That Messrs Honeyfiehl and Hawken be notified that the portion of the Bntahi Reserve in this Road Board be valued ; also, No. 11, consisting of 126 acres, now occupied by Messrs Drake and Melvelterick.” Proposed by Mr Southby, seconded by Mr Nicholson, and carried “ That in the opinion of this Board, a fair exchange of rates between this Board and the Wairoa Highway Board be -entered into, viz., the

Patea Board to pay over to the Wairoa Board, for tlie benefit of the ratepayers in the Taranaki portion of tin's district, all the rates collected on the Wairoa side of the Whoniiaknra River, together with the propoition of General Government grants to which those rates are entitled. The Wairoa Board, on their part, to hand over to this Board, for the benefit of the ratepayers in the Wellington portion of this district situated on the Palea side of the Whunnaknra River, all rates and proportion of Government grants to which those rates are entitled, collected on land on the Patea side of the Whcnuaknra River, and a copy of this resolution to heforwaidod to the Chairman of the Wairoa Board.”

Proposed by i\lr Sonthhy, seconded by Mr Nicholson, and carried, “ That the sum of K)s lin paid to Mr Harris for use of his room for three months, up to 31st Mareli, 1877.” The following accounts were passed for payment: —G. W. Williams, ,C'B 18s! J. Morin, £2 ; Secretary (salary), ill 13s 4d ; Wanganui Herald , Its ; Patea Mail, 9s ; rent, 10s. The Board then adjourned.
