RESIDENT DOCTOR FOR HAWERA.

[TO THE EIUTOII OXi' THE I’ATEA MAIL,] Siu, —A short time since there was much ado made about the necessity of a resident doctor in tin’s sadly neglected district. The settlers, as usual in public matters, entered heartity into the question, and enthusiastically started a movement in order to procure one. A committee was organised, an indefatigable secretary (Mr Inman) appointed, when, suddenly, for all the public know to the contrary, it drops into a dangerous state of inactivity. Albeit, your readers arc cheered by an advertisement in each issue of the Mail, intimating, that ■ the Secretary of the Hawera Medical Society still exists in the llesh, but this availeth nothing. The question arises, Arc the people of Hawera Hiding satisfied with a mere exhibition of

fuss and binder, or do they want the mailer proceeded with until a doctor is settled hero ?
