ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE
[We arc at all time; ready to give expression to every shade of opinion, but in no cam do we hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments of our correspondents.]
(to the editor of the patea mail.) Sir, —On reading the minutes of the Waste Lands Board at New Plymouth, I see some settlers lave applied to purchase some land adjoining the Patca river, and on Captain Wray’s recommendation it was not sold, as it might he required for some public purpose I quite agree with Captain Wray, so far that land one chain in width should be reserved on both banks of the river for public purposes. I don’t quite understand Captain Wray recommending the Waste Lands Board as above, and not being quite so ready to recommend the reservation of river frontage on the east side of the river at the land sale in September, 1875. I know the conditions of sale stated that a road one chain wide was reserved, if claimed within five years. It is to bo hoped Captain Wray will recommend the above road being proclaimed a road at onee, so as not to cut off the river frontage from the public—l am, &c., CONSISTENCY.
