In Hid Divorce Court, in the case Knowles v Knowles,- on the application of Mr Boll,* the Court granted an order declaring the pctitioiief to bo custodian of a child of the marriage, for the dissolution of Which a rifle was granted. May 23. The Court of Appeal has overruled the demurrer of Brogden’s to the pleadings of the Crown. The point decided is, that contracts may bo made by the Governor on behalf of the Queen, although the Act, giving authority to cuter into such contracts, may mention only the name ot the Queen, and further that as the Governor has power to. enter into s«eh contracts, lie may delegate the power to agents. That Dr Fcatherstou had competent authority to enter into the immigration contract upon which the Government rely in the action. The Judges differed on minor points but agreed in the main.
