May 10. A fatal accident occurred last night. William Briggs, a miner working in a winze, becoming faint, commenced to walk up by hand rope ; when near the top he fell backwards, fracturing bis skull. Death was almost instantaneous. John Gibble, draper, and two other men left in a boat on Monday for Coromandel. The boat was found on the beach near T'ann, and goods were strewed .‘all along the beach, but no sign of the men.
