WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
(from our own correspondent. A meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. The following correspondence was received Letter from Patea East Road Board, enclosing resolution that Messrs Riddle, Walker, and others apply to Wairoa Highway Board to construct a road as far as the boundary of the Province, and that the Patea East Road Board would continue it as far as possible. Letter from J. Duncan, applying for a road to section 468, Okotuku Block. The secretary was ordered to reply that there was already a good track to the section, and that there was more necessity to spend money in making roads; to lands, longer occupied. Letter from T. South by, asking that a road be made to sections 32 and 33. Resolved, that the Patea East Road Board should construct the road to the boundary of the Province, and the Wairoa Highway Board would continue it as far as possible T. Allan objected to A. Riches having a gate across the road past his land. Resolved, that Mr Riches be written to, requesting him to remove the gate. A report from Mr Williams, District Surveyor, upon the proposed road through Hawes and Milne’s land, was unfavorable, owing to great expense and other objections. Letter from T. Harris, for permission to erect a gate across the road past section 130, Okotuku. Deferred till next meeting. A. Riches applied to have section 64, Waverley, transferred to H. P. Mason. A. C. Fookes applied to have the rating of section 324 altered, a part of it having been disposed of. D. Williamson applied to have a road made to section 399. Deferred for consideration. The following accounts were passed and paid T. Allan. £6 10s ;P. Bell, £2 5s ; Dutbie, £5 8s ; J. Dudley, £2.175. The Board then adjourned.
