[Per Press Agencv.] WELLINGTON. March 11. Sir Juluis Vogel purposes (weather permitting) to leave for Wanganui on Tuesday evening next, to address his constituents on Thursday evening, and to leave Wanganui for Wellington on Friday next. The Town Council of Pdverton are about to memorialize the Minister of Public Works praying for the intervention of the Colonial Government respecting the abuses connected with the construction of Public Works in the Southland District by the Provincial Government of Otago. The contractor for the Thermion reclamation having got into difficulties with his sureties, the latter, yesterday, drew from the Provincial chest about JI9OO due to the contractor money, an<l immsdiately paid off all the workmen and discharged them stating that they would nut be sureties any longer. AUCKLAND. March 11. The representatives arrived to-day. The volunteers turned out, and they were escorted from the station by the Nixon Light Horse. Bell was carried in triumph on an Artillery carriage, and was afterwards entertained at the drill shed. The Hon. B. If. Hastings delivered a' farewell address at the Temperance Hole! yesterda3 ? .
