MEETING OF THE PATEA EDUCATION BOARD.

The PVrfcft Education Board met on’ Monday last, at Mr Coworn’s office at 10 a.rn. All the members of the Board were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following was the business done ; Proposed by Mr Miiroy, seconded by Mr Christie, “That the Secretary call upon Mr Delamore to erect his portion of the dividing fence between the school reserve and tire property leased by him at Kakarameu.” —Carried. Proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Mcßae. “That Mr Connolly be instructed to take proceedings to recover the (log rate for 187 C, and that ho be allowed 60s of the amount of the rate as remuneration, and pay all expenses. ’ —Carried. Proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Furlong, “That Mr Harre, on his arrival be instructed to take charge of the Ketemara’e school, and that 1 insertion be made in the Patea Mate notifying that the school will be opened.”—Carried A letter was read from Mr Wilson, relative to the Board using, matai Proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Furlong, “That the Secretary -write to Mr Wilson informing him that the contractors under the Board are at liberty at all limes to procure material from whom tlrcy may think fit provided they are of a class equal to those specified and fit for the several purposes for which they are intended to be used.” —Carried. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Dale, “That any successful tenderer for buildings underfhe Education Board will be allowed to use matai for frame' work.” —Carried. Proposed by Mr Furlong, seconded by Mr Mcßae,- “ That Miss Williams’ salary be iuereas-'d to TAo per annum from February Ist, inclusive.”—Carried.

Proposed by Mr Furlong. se:oudcd by Mr Milruy, “ That Air CtAvere's salary be mist'd to £7o per yeai'to date ironiAl arch Ist.” —Carried. Tenders were reeeived from Mr G. {•'Vines, Mr.l. Searling, and Messrs lloltham and Warren, lor erecting 2 schools, 1 at Kakaramea and one at Manutalii. Proposed by Mr Furlong, and seconded by Mr Mediae, “ That Messrslloltham and Warren’s tender for erecting Kakaramea mid Manutalii schools, according to plans and specifications (being the lowest) be accepted.”—t.’arried. I’roposod by Mr Dale, seconded by INIr Christie, “ That .Messrs .lloltham and ■Warren’s lenders for lining Kakaramea school at 2Us, and Manutalii school at 325, per square he accepted.”—Carried. Proposed by Mr Christie, seconded by .Mr Furlong, *•“ That Mr Brown receive notice, that he must commence the school at Manutalii on April Ist.”—Cmried. A letter was read from Air W. Williams asking permission to sub-let section Ko. Mi), proposed by Air Christie, seconded by Mr Furlong', ‘’That. Air Williams’ application be held over pending the solicitors opinion.”—Carrird. Proposed by Mr (‘bristle, seconded by Mr Ale But*, "That the Secretary write to Messrs Livingstone and Me Michael asking them to sign their lease, and in the event 'of their delaying to do so before the end of the (present month, to place the matter in (he hands of the Board’s solictor.”— Carried.
