HAWERA TOWN BOARD.
A special meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday evening, the 10th inst. Present: —Mr J. Davidson (Chairman), Messrs Winks, Cameron, Mcldowie, Black, and Baker. The minutes of the-special meetings, held on the 17th and 20th January, were read and confirmed. . The Chairman informed the Board that he had received £IOO from the Provincial (xovernment as a grant in aid, and had placed the same to the Hoard's credit in the Bank of New South Wales, Hawera. He also explained the nature of a. conversation he had with Captain Wray, re Town lleserve, &c., &c,, which was approved of. The Town Clerk read copies of letters sent to Majr Atkinson re Town Hall, church sites, &c., and to Messrs Dale, Cowern,and Campbell, asking them if they Would allow themselves to be nominated as assessors for the Board. The Clerk was'directed to communicate witli MessnsjDale, and Campbell the decision, of the Board, and ask them to fulfil the duties required of them at their earliest convenience. Mr Winks proposed, “ That Messrs T. M'asbiV and E. Bnyly be accepted as the
necessary sureties for the Town Clerk.” See. aided by Mr Baker, and carried Proposed bv Mr Baker, and seconded by Mr Winks, .“That the. Clerk communicate either with Messrs Gumlry or Aizdof, and ascei'trin their foe lor surveying and drafting out a working section of footpaths, as follows From the Taranaki Road to Muir’s corner, and from the last mentioned point to the north end of sections No. 2 and 3, town of Hawera. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Cameron, “That lenders be called for the consl ruction of a box culvert on the road opposite Mr Dingle’s bouse, between sections No. 17 and 22.—Carried. Resolved, that the next meeting take place on the 21st instant, at 8 p.m.
