WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board took place on Saturday last, when all members were present. The following tenders were received for repairs to the Lower Mangatangi road J. Sinclair, £29 (accepted) ; D. Johnstone, £39 10s. ; J. A. Milne, £46 10s. Tenders received for repairs to road:—R. Bows, £8 16s. (accepted); D. Johnstone, £!) 10s. Permission was granted for 12 months to Dr. Carl, to put gates across a road through his property. Tenders to bo called for, before next meeting of the Board, for work on the road between Mr J. Old’s property and the main road. Mr Wilson applied to the Board to repair the road from Whenuakura bridge to sea beach. Tenders to be invited before next meeting. Mr Allan applied for permission to erect two gates across the road between his land and Mr Broom’s. Granted. Mr Dyke applied to have the road to his place made passable. Mr W. A. G. Winchcombe was appointed collector to the Board. Salary, £5 per annum. Resolved—“ That the Board’s accounts be kept in the National Bank, Wanganui. Resolved—“ That any two members of the Board countersign cheques. “ That, the Chairman write to the Wan-ganui-Waitotara Board for the settlement of accounts. Considered— w An account for preliminary expenses incurred by promoters of new district—item objected to £2 10s. —charged by Mr Kelley for supplying correct list of ratepayers in place of the incorrect one previously paid for.”
