Messrs Peacock, McGuire, and Sherwood, the three members who represent this district in the Provincial Council of Taranaki have proceeded per coach to New Plymouth, in order to be present on Monday next at the opening of the Council. We understand that a petition signed by the publicans in this district, will bo presented to the Provincial Council, asking that body to abolish the bottle license system at present in force within the Province. i\ number of settlors residing at Kakaramca had an interview with Messrs Peacock and McGuire on Thursday lust, to ask those gentleman to use their inlluencc in Connell to get tire road known as the Jlukaterc Road made from Kakaramea to Whenuaknra at an early date.
It will he seen by an advertisment else, where, that the Patea Good Templars intend holding an open ledge meeting on Thursday evening next. These mootings arc becoming very popular throughout New Zealand, and we hope to sec a good attendance at the first meeting held in Patea.
