THE LATE SOIREE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PATEA 3IAIL. Sir, I observe that our ever officious local correspondent of tlic “ Herald has again distorted facts, as the concluding paragraph of his last o(fusion has made it appear that a desperate wrong bag been inflicted upon tho residents of this district by the few gentlemen who formed a private party after the conclusion of the evtannir’s entertainment alluded to. 5Vu in no way intended that the dance winch followed should have formed part of the evening’s amusement for which a charge was exacted. The fact is wo pre-arranged a private party, and the fact of our being desirous of keeping the affair select, will at once account for the “Herald’s” own not receiving an invitation, and hence his ire. I trust this explanation will satisfy the wounded feelings of “ our own,” and his sensitive friends. Apologising tor troubling you on such a frivolous mutter. I remain, yours, &c. INDUSTRY.
