During the past two months a family living on a farm not far from Whangarei has received £25 for eggs (says the Northern Advocate), and this from just over 100 fowls. There has been a very marked scarcity of fresh eggs in Whangarei this season, and poultrymen who have succeeded in finding the right methods have reaped a harvest of good prices. The consumption of peanuts is increasing in Christchurch (says the Sun), and is considerably greater than it to be a year or two back. The public’s taste tor them is growing, and they are being _ put to many cu’inary uses. At one time they were’ sold chiefly in the shell, but now that they are being used more- in cooking the demand is for pennuts Shelled. Roasted peanuts have long been popular, but now that the nuts are so cheap people are buying and roasting them for themselves.
