SATURDAY’S MATCHES. DUNEDIN. CHALLENGE "SHIELD MATCH Buller played Canterbury at Christchurch on Saturday for the New Zealand Challenge Shield, the home side retaining the trophy by defeating Buller by 4 goals to nil. LADIES’ HOCKEY OTAGO v. GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL. Otago met Girls’ High School on Saturday and gave a first-class exhibition of hoekey on rhe Oval, where conditions were favourable for the Otago eleven. The first half was bright and open, the Otago forwards making the play. School backs defended stoutly, and their forwards made much ground by fast play Otago led 1-to nil at half time. School backs defended well, the Otago Halves breaking tip many School attacks and the forwards losing opportunities by off-side tactics. Otago again scored in the second spell, and a good game resulted Otago 2 goals. Girls’ High School . . Nil. Messrs R. S. Wallace and D. Miller were referees. UNIVERSITY v. MOMONA. University and Momona met at Logan Park, where the Light Blues had the better of a well-contested game. University held the attack for the greater part of the game, but Momona, who were playing short, took their share of the attack. University’s shooting, however, was better, and the game ended: — University 6 goals. Momona 1 goal. Mr L. Fogo was referee. TRAINING COLLEGE v. TECHNICAL OLD GIRLS. College played Technical Old Girls at Logan Park, and a very good game was witnessed. Both teams took their tarn at attack, but shooting was poor, and the defence was sound. A very good game resulted:— Technical Old Girls ..- 3 goals. College .. .. . . 3 goals. Scorers for Technical Old Girls were Misses Miller, Rennick. and Turubull, and Misses Fraser (2) and M. Bennett scored for College. B GRADE. Otago 6, Technical Old Girls II nil. Technical Old Girls 3, Taieri nil. Technical High School 4, Momona I 4. C GRADE. Technical Old Girls 3, Taieri 2. Momona 7, University nil. Otago 6, West Harbour 1.
