A decrease of 300 in the Derby is partly accounted for by the barring ,ot geldings. There are in the totals of 64 in the Epsom and 57 in the Metropolitan. At the hitzroy races on May 25 a veterinary surgeon discovered that attempts were made to administer poison to a number of horses and ponies. The horses were ordered to be scratched The. stewards have now found that A. Dalton and W. Stewart were proved to have doped twq.ponies. They have been warned off the Victorian Trotting aud Racing Association courses.
