Four of the 30 or 40 bales of wool which were thrown into the sea at Port Napier on February 3 by the earthquake from a lorry from which they were being loaded into a lighter which was to transfer them to a Home boat in the roadstead, have been discovered washed up on the Westshore beach. In reply to the message sent by the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) on tlm occasion of the Queen’s birthday his Excellency has received a cablegram stating that the Queen was greatly sage and sends her grateful thanks to pleased to receive the kind birthday ineshim and to the Government and people of New Zealand.
