No. 8. Then the Chums heard from the Man in the Moon the story of the bewitched Princess. She had been wandering in the woods one day, when a horrid witch, envious of her great beauty, had cast a spell on her, and told her that in three days she would turn into a frog, and even if she was caught she would become a different animal and escape. And that was what happened. The Princess roamed through the forests a hunted animal. The good Prince was in despair. “ And cannot you do anything to help?” Teddy asked the Man in the Moon. “ Alas!” he answered, “ the witch is a relative of mine. If I’m a good boy to her she will leave me all her magic potions when she dies. So I daren’t do anything to annoy her. You might seek her out, however, and make her see the folly of her ways. Her home is a mountain cave ten miles to the westward. The cave is beside a waterfall.” So Teddy and Golly bade farewell to the Man in the Moon and set out. to find the witch’s cave. They had not gone far when they espied, coming along the road—what do you think?—a giant dressed like a boy scout, and leading a baby dragon on a chain! “ Here comes my dinner, Agatha!” he cried to the dragon, when he caught sight of the Chums. “ Let’s go!” exclaimed Golly. And the Chums ran, but heavy footsteps thundered after them! (To be Continued.)
