In going through the new wing I discovered only one omission,” remarked Archbishop Julius at the opening of the final section of St. George’s Hospital in Christ church. '• There should have been provided a lethal chamber for the quiet dismissal of retired bishops.” Bishop West-Watson disagreed with the archbishop, holding that what was required was a special chamber to' confer immortality on people who should never pass away. The presence in port of several large overseas vessels attracted many people to the waterfront at Auckland the other day. The overseas ships at the wharves were the Afonowai, 10.857 tons; the Raiigitiki, 16,698 tons; the Remuera, 11,383 tons; the Gallic. 7912 tons; and the Winton, 4388 tons. The Royal Afail liner Afonowai, on her first visit to Auckland, was thrown open to the public at a sinall charge. The proceeds will be devoted to charity. Alany people took that opportunity of inspecting the ship.
