Pictures purchased in Europe last year for the Mackelvie Trustees, Auckland, were available for inspection by the public for the first time last week. The sections of the. Art Gallery set apart for the Mackelvie collection were closed for some weeks to allow the new purchases to be hung. In addition to the 134 oil paintings, water colours, and pastels recently purchased. 100 etchings were displayed in the print room of the gallery.
