WAGE REDUCTIONS

AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD GRADUATED SCALE ADOPTED. AUCKLAND, May 26. A general reduction in the salaries and wages of the staff of the Auckland Harbour Board was adopted to-day by the board. The reductions, which apply only to wages not governed by Arbitration Court awards, will operate from the beginning of next month. All salaries and wages up to and including £2OO per annum will be reduced by 5 per cent. All salaries and wages over £2OO per annum will be reduced by 10 per cent., but in the latter case none shall be reduced so as to bring any salary or wage below the rate of £2OO a year.
