An outstanding exhibit at the Southland Winter Show was staged by the Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs. This movement was inaugurated three years ago. It has made wonderful progress. At first the club s work was restricted to the growing of crops, but the inclusion of calf-rearing was very popular. The entries received this year in the club s classes were excellent, particularly in the calf-rearing sections. The judges’ task was not easy, the awards being made more on the score of condition than of type. The displays of root crops, record charts, etc., were excellent also, and attracted a good deal of interest.
