DUMPING BY RUSSIA
EXPORTS TO ENGLAND DOMINION FIGURES COMPARED. References to the dumping of Russian goods into Britain was made by the Minister of Lands (Mr E. A. Ransom) in ai> address at Papatoetoe. He said a comparison of certain of the Russian exports to Britain in 1918 and 1929 was as follows:—
The totals for the two years mentioned were £6,711,320 and £26,487,499 respectively. More recent figures showed that the imports to England from Russia totalled £34,245,000, compared with £44,939,000 worth of goods imported into England from New Zealand. The exports from England to Russia totalled £9,346,000 and from England to New Zealand £18,632,000.
These figures, said Mr Ransom, were ample evidence of the need for some form of Empire preference.
