“In the Old Country we have made a substantial forward march in commercial art in the past six years and the Empire Marketing Board has produced some of the best samples of poster advertising which the world has ever seen,” said the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) at the annual exhibition of the Society of Arts at Auckland. His Excellency said he had promised the president (Dr E. B. Gunson) that he would obtain specimens of British poster work, which he hoped would be displayed to give some idea how the board was popularising Empire products, including those of New Zealand.
