MEAT PRODUCERS’ BOARD.
SMITHFIELD PRICES. The New Zealand Meat Producers* Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated May 22, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised for if , wee "> based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield Market and/or ex London stores:— (Prices for the two previous weeks are also shown).
Lamb Market: Very firm. Consumption excellent. Mutton Market: Wethers and ewes flrm, with improved prices. Frozen Beef: Market is depressed. Very little interest in frozen beef owing to heavy arrivals of Argentine chilled beef. N.Z. Porker Pigs: Market is quiet. Trade slow. N.Z. Baconer Pigs: Nominal prices.
