SUDDEN HEART ATTACK
DOCTOR EXPIRES ON GOLF LINKS. ROTORUA, May 22. A sudden heart attack, folloyving strenuous play in a bunker, led to the collapse and death of Dr Henry John M‘Lean, of Wellington, at the Rotorua golf course at 3.30 yesterday afternoon. Medical attention was at hand, but Dr M’Lean died yvithin a minute. He arrived at Rotorua with a friend from Wellington on a short holiday, and arranged to play every day for a fortnight. The tragedy intervened on the second day. The game had reached the sixth hole, yvhere M'Lean’s ball went into the bunker. He played it out to the green, and was about to take his putt when he collapsed. Dr M'Knight (Rotorua), yvho was playing nearby, hastened to his assistance, but it was unay’ailing. A nurse and the Rev. Mr Hetherington also gave assistance. No inquest yvill be necessary, as a medical friend in Wellington states that Dr M‘Lean had been suffering from heart trouble for some time, and is prepared to give a certificate. The body yvill travel south by train to-day.
