A hut is to be erected near the wellknown Scoria Flat ski-ing grounds at National Park. It will be known as the Salt Memorial Hut, after the late Mr W. Salt, whose bequest of £lOO, together with £25 from the National Park Board will finance the building. The hut will be 24ft by 10ft, and will contain two rooms. _ Skis and equipment will be stored in the hut, thus avoiding daily carrying to and from the sports grounds. What is believed to be the first flight of its kind made in a club aeroplane in the Dominion was made by Captain W. F. Park, pilot-instructor, and Mr A. V. Jury, in one of the Wairarapa Aero Club’s machines at Masterton. Leaving the local aerodrome at 7 p.m.., they flew to Wellington, and landed at Rongotai, later flying back to Masterton. In view of the improvised landing facilities this successful experience in night flying is northworthy.
