POTATO BLIGHT.
' HOBART, September 8. Mr" Kirk has- presented an interim Teport on the potato blight. He finds that the disease is widespread, but with two exceptions- it is nos in the virulent •or. rotting stage. Ht, recommends compulsory spraying, and the prohibition of the use of second-hand bags for export unless thoroughly fumigated. He also suggests a tax of 2s an acre to provide •funds for inspection. September 11. A Potato Disease Bill has been introduced in A he Assembly. It divides ths State into areas., and provides for inspection, spraying, and reporting the disease.
