Prohibition is one thing, but the prevention of prohibited persons from obtain* mc spirituous liquor us quite another, ao cording to the argument* of counsel, in an appeal case heard before Mr Justice Edwards yesterday. Some hotels, it was( stated, supplied something like 2000 per* eons daily, and when as many as 17 pro* hibition orders had been issued at Auck* land in one day, it was a matter of zmposa, sibility for licensees and employees tq ascertain the dentity of all. "In Lou* don," remarked Mr J.-R. Reed, "the* have a black list,. which means that pubj licans are supplied with photographs <tt jo-ohibited persons."
