THE SPIRITNALISTIC MEDIUM.
WELLINGTON, September 8. As Mr W. M'Lean, who brought C_ Bailey, the Spiritualistic medium, from-. Melbourne could not agree with Mr Driver, the conjurer, as to the details ot the test which the latter proposed to make of the medium's bona fides for a wager of £100, Mr M'Lean challenged the editorof the New Zealand Times, Mr Driver's stakeholder, to take up the challenge fora third of the amount. The challenge wasat once taken up by the newspaper man, who called at Mr McLean's office to-dajr with a cheque for the amount, and offered" to sign the necessary documents. Mr~ M'Lean said Bailey was leaving for the south, and be would consult him and his-, control? as* to whether he was prepared, to go on with the test under the new conditions. Mr M'Lean told a reporter tonight that Bailey had not been able togive him a decided answer, buE would write, doing so from Timaru, whither he has gone to visit a sister, in the course of.' two or three days.
