Tlw results showed that while- No. 1 plot yield-ed 30951b per acre, No. 2 plot yielded 621C1b, the value of the increase after deducting cos" of manure being £24 11-*. No. 3 plot y iekle-d 93151b, the- increa->r<l profit being £50 2s 6d. No. 4 plot yielded 18.6301b. or an increased profit over No. 1 plot of £127 3s. The effect of potash according <x> this experiment was most marked. The plot No. 4, with th-e complete manure with potash, gave an increased yield of the value of £127 over the unmanured plot, while plot 2, without potash, gave a yield showing an increase of £24 lls. The time to apply artificial fertilisers to frui* trees is in the winter or beginning of spring; they should be harrowed in, soy not closer than 4ft
